The main difference between what Brian has commented is already existing functionality and this is being able to do it "after the fact".

For the getter/setter suggestion, is this not already handled by the 'Generate Get/Set Methods for Protected and Set Methods for Read Only Properties' option on the Schema tab of the Jade User Preferences?
