Display the number of Characters selected in the editor, like Notepad++

Sometimes to avoid string too long exception, I need to know the number of characters in a string in the editor. Currently I have to do this by copy & pasting that string to the Notepad++ and select that string to see "sel" number at the bottom of the window.

It would be nice for JADE to provide the same functionality as Notepad++

    Hi Simon, does the option "View Status Line Info" on the "Editor Options" tab of the user preferences do what you need?

    It will display some information at the bottom right of your window in the format
    <Line number>:<Position in line>:<characters selected>

    So selecting the first 3 characters on line 1 will display

    1:4:3
