The Jade 2025 release focuses on modernising the developer experience and helping you build faster, smarter, and more scalable applications.
Using the navigation bar above the list of methods gives you the opportunity to perform a search, but the behaviour is different when you have a method already selected.
If you already have a method selected, you click in the navigation textbox and:
- Type letters; you immediately see the list matching your text. Good.
- Paste text; it moves keyboard focus and injects the pasted text into the "Source" tab. Bad.
If it's a fresh view of a class (navigation bar empty) and you Paste text into the method navigation bar, it behaves as expected and shows you the list as per text pasted.
It feels like you are fighting the IDE when you have keyboard focus on any text box in the navigation bar.
PARSYS ticket 70956 opened. Closing this JEDI.
Hi Damien. This is a fault. Could you please open a PARSYS ticket for this?
Hi Damian,
I've never noticed this because I use my older DOS days version of copy & paste, that being Ctrl+Insert (copy) and Shift+Insert (paste) respectively. I find these a quicker combination, especially on a Dvorak keyboard layout, as you use the same primary key and only have to change the modifier keys between copy & paste operations. Luckily this older paste shortcut combination works as desired, as it is a Windows level paste shortcut that is not currently being intercepted by a Jade Editor window. I also don't use the navigation controls to select either a property or a method for the currently selected class, I use the alternate keyboard shortcuts of Ctrl+6 (property) and Ctrl+7 (method) and then Shift+Insert to paste the clipboard contents into the popup search field displayed by the Ctrl+6/Ctrl+7 shortcut.
You could potentially use either of these work-arounds in the interim to avoid this annoying behaviour:
Use the alternate Shift+Insert to paste your clipboard contents into the relevant navigation bar control.
Use the Ctrl+6/Ctrl+7 shortcut in combination with Shift+Insert to navigate to the property/method name you currently have in your clipboard.
Note: I also use the Shift+Insert option on the Translatable Strings Browser, which also has the same annoying behaviour with the Ctrl+V paste shortcut going into the Jade Editor window rather than the Search field which has focus.
I hope this work-around helps in the interim.
Cheers,
BeeJay.
