Reduce time to restore an SDS environment after a hostile takeover

This JEDI is created on behalf of contact #67058. An NFS (#64300) already exist for this feature.

We would like a solution that reduces the time to restore a Synchronized Database Environment (SDE) to its standard operational state after executing a hostile takeover.

Recently, we encountered a situation where it took 5 hours to restore our SDE after a hostile takeover. This was largely due to the time taken to transfer a clone of the new primary database back to the main (primary) data centre.

We are looking for an option that allowed us to restore a backup of the primary database (that was taken before the hostile takeover) and have that start synchronising with the new primary. Once this was done we could then execute a negotiated takeover.

Thanks Allistar. Restoring the original primary site using an on-site backup of the primary is a reasonable proposition (because the prior backup database cannot be ahead of the new primary). Description updated.

Ideally we would be able to restore a backup of the old primary (that was taken before the hostile takeover) and have that start synchronising with the new primary. Then once this is done we could do a negotiated takeover.
